About Us
who we are
Brief history
It was year 1948, when the Oblate Missionaries headed by then OMI superior, Archbishop Gerard Mongeau, OMI, DD instructed Rev. Fr. Francis McSorley, OMI and Rev. Fr. Clement McCarthy, OMI to lay the groundwork of a school and a parish in M’lang.
The school had 215 First Year and Second Year students when the school inaugurated in June 1949. The Oblate Fathers and the pioneering NDM Faculty and Staff worked hard to make school a seedbed of well-rounded and holistic educational institution.
In 1962, the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary headed by Sr. Simon Peter Roy, PM., came to finalize plans for the turning-over of the school. The PM Siters started administering Notre Dame of Mlang in school year 1962-1963 and introduced various innovations which led to be the leading educational institutions in the island of Mindanao particularly in the region of Cotabato.
Another milestone in the history of Notre Dame of Mlang was the opening of the College Department in 1963. A year later, elementary department was opened to serve as a laboratory for the training of the intern students. Eventually towards the end of 1971, after 8 years of existence, the College Department was phased out. With the closure of College Department, Basic Education Departments continued their mission of providing Catholic education to their clientele.
At present, despite the difficulties the school had encountered, Notre Dame of Mlang is proud of its valuable accomplishments which has helped Municipality of Mlang become what it is today and it has remained steadfast in achieving its Mission and Vision in making Jesus Christ known and loved by everyone. Just like its motto “Pro Deo et Patria”, for God and Country.
